The Sleep-in / Abri Colibri

The Abri Colibri run by La Caravane Sans Frontières was set up with the support of the Protestant Church of Geneva, the City of Geneva, the Haas Foundation, and private donations, with the church making its Servette-Vieusseux temple available.

The aim is to offer a place to sleep for homeless people identified as facing severe hardship. This shelter can serve as a step toward redirecting beneficiaries to other housing options once their health, social situation and ability to integrate into other structures have been assessed.

In the current context of health, economic and social crisis, such a facility — which offers not only a hot meal and a bed, but also essential human warmth and a listening ear — makes sense for welcoming and redirecting the most vulnerable people, while also relieving social institutions that are currently under heavy strain.
